The Generator
A new generator was installed in 2026, to replace the original one that had served us well since 2005.
Back in 2005, the generator was a necessity, but the reliabilty of the grid, (Even through the Winter storms) has greatly improved.
However, there is always the chance that a failure can still occur, and that is made worse when repair crews and their trucks are delayed in fixing the fault by the weather conditions, and the road closures due to the snow and ice.
There is a dedicated binder at the house with laminated pages that fully details the How to prepare, start, operate, transfer the power and monitor the generator, as well as having a removalable laminated page for Itemimising in point form, for a Quick Start and Shut Down of the unit .
If your stay is co inciding with a "Severe Weather Warning" and you would like to be better prepared, I can forward you the contents of the folder, in either Powerpoint (16mb) or PDF (5mb) format, as well as the "Starting in Cold Conditions" video, as it is only 36mb in size and can be sent via a text attachment, and then you can save it to your phone or device.
